Who Should You Work With: A Native or Transplant Realtor®?
When you move to a new area, like Naples, it’s tempting to seek out a Realtor® who’s lived in the area their entire life. They must know everything about the city and surrounding suburbs, right? They can tell you all the small details that a “transplant” or someone who moved to Naples later in life can’t.
Native real estate agents certainly have their own value, but it’s important to realize that a Realtor® who’s made the move to Naples from another city or even country has plenty to offer as you buy a new home and move.

Learning the history of a new area is fascinating. Finding out that a big development used to be farmland or the high school sits on a swamp makes a new home come alive. However, none of that helps you find a home in the neighborhood that’s perfect for you. They may also remember what an area used to be like, a dilapidated mess or on the “wrong side of town” and steer you away from areas with investment or commercial potential.
The transplant agent doesn’t have those memories and will actively seek what’s new and upcoming. We also know there’s a lot to learn so we’re out combing neighborhoods and small towns to make sure we’re educated on what’s going on in the area. Since transplant Realtors need to build a network, we’re at Chamber meetings and community events, meeting people and finding out what’s going on around Naples. All of this benefits our clients moving into the area.
Transplant Agents Understand the Moving Process
Anyone who’s moved, especially as an adult, knows the process is filled with hassles, uncertainties, and a big learning curve. Who can you hire to drive the moving truck to Naples? Can you schedule the electric and water online or do you have to call someone? Is there good child care near your new home or new office? Will you need to stay in a hotel and which one allows dogs?
A Realtor® who’s been through a big move knows exactly what you’re going through. We can also help you navigate where to go and what to do when getting your home move-in ready and know what it feels like to drive through town relying on GPS and vague descriptions of landmarks that may or may not still be there. We can also tell you where we found new friends, great parks for the kids, and business contacts to help you settle in that much quicker.
Realtors® who’ve lived in town their entire lives are wonderful sources of information, especially if you want to know historic details about the area. But don’t discount Realtors® who moved to the area later in life. We can help you with the moving process as someone who’s been through it and survived it. Because we’re serious about gaining helpful real estate knowledge quickly, our eyes and ears are open to new opportunities and developments in the local area. We’re a fresh perspective on an area with plenty of history.
